As an example, ZF (the manufacturer of BMW automatic gearbox) states the oil in their gearboxes should be renewed every 100,000km (62,000miles) or 8 years at the very latest. From our experience, most of the time, these units fail due to lack of servicing or incorrect engine tuning (bent torque logic).
